One Delta Adds Incumbent School Trustees to Growing Team

DELTA, B.C. — Past Delta School District Board Chair Val Windsor and incumbents Ammen Dhillon and Masako Gooch will be running under the One Delta banner in the October municipal election.

“Strong communities start with strong partnerships,” says Councillor Dylan Kruger. “One Delta brings together councillors and trustees who understand the full picture of what families and neighbourhoods need and who will work together for what’s best for all of Delta.”

The incumbent trustees bring deep experience in education, youth advocacy and community engagement.

They are running with the One Delta team because they value collaboration as a building block for a stronger community. The trio will help strengthen alignment between community priorities, from safe streets, well-maintained parks and inclusive public spaces to continuous improvement in our schools.

A four-term trustee and lifelong educator, Val Windsor has a proven track record of creating real results for students. “School boards have to focus on boosting reading and math skills, and championing innovation like our new career pathways program that gives students practical skills and clear paths to their future careers,” says Windsor.

In her first term, Ammen Dhillon’s professional expertise as a registered clinical counsellor led to her strong support for increased mental health supports for Delta’s students. “Our world is changing quickly, and I believe we need to stay innovative and aligned with where work and society are going,” says Dhillon. “Academic skills are essential, but they are no longer enough on their own. That’s why I’m advocating for a stronger focus on relational literacy and mental health to be more intentionally built in our curriculum. These are the skills that underpin student success in school, in the workplace and in life.”

Masako Gooch emphasizes the importance of open engagement and accountability as a trustee. “Our Justice and Equity Action Plan reflects a clear commitment to ensuring every school is safe, welcoming and supportive for all students,” says Gooch. “By sharing our progress openly and inviting dialogue, we’re building trust and making real improvements. When every child feels they belong and are supported, they can focus on learning and reach their full
potential."

One Delta understands that families don’t experience the city in silos. They move between schools, parks, recreation centres and the roads that connect them. Bringing trustees and council candidates together reflects a commitment to more coordinated, responsive local leadership and enhances the ability to provide wraparound supports and services for Delta’s children and families.

“We’re excited to work alongside our school trustees to strengthen the connection between both levels of local government,” says Kruger. “This is a moment where collaboration matters more than ever. Families are looking for leadership that works together across council chambers and school boards to deliver real results. When we listen to each other and plan together, we build a more welcoming, more resilient Delta.”

One Delta will run a full slate of candidates in the 2026 municipal election.
